Dries Roelvink is now considered a seasoned artist, but he has no plans to increase his salary. He says he is stuck at a ‘modest’ 6,000 euros.
Few artists are as open about financial matters as Dries Roelvink. The singer apparently has nothing to hide and is also open about the wages he takes during performances. While other celebrities of his stature sometimes pay as much as 15,000 euros for half an hour, Dries says he deliberately stays in the middle bracket.
140 thousand euros
Dries doesn’t want to ask too much. “Of course my price has risen, but not to that level,” he says in the Party. “I’ve been performing for about forty years. I used to do it for little and now I charge 6,000 euros for half an hour. But that’s the ceiling for me, otherwise it would be crazy.”
With that salary he has a turnover of around 140 thousand euros per month. “Yes, well, I do this about twenty to 23 times a month and I am very satisfied with it.”
Columns with Sven
What does Dries see as his breakthrough? “My breakthrough actually came when I did columns with Sven Kockelmann. Then suddenly success came. The unfortunately deceased John van Katwijk summarized it very well. He said: ‘Dries, you have repositioned yourself.’”
He concludes: “I agree with that. That ‘yellow trunks period’ is over. Even people from the media have changed their opinion about me, which says enough about my current state.”
