It seems that Driekus K. worked in the same way in Gouda on Tuesday afternoon as when his ex shooting his ex in 2008 in Boxtel. K. was waiting for the woman in the bushes. On Tuesday he was also seen by a passer -by in a nearby park. A man who walked out his dog saw how K. dived into the bushes with binoculars.
“I think I saw him at the beginning of the afternoon and again around three o’clock,” the witness says Omroep West. The witness lives near the location of the liquidation. “He walked through the park with binoculars, while there is not much more than a blackbird and pigeon to spot,” he continues.
“The first time I met him in the afternoon, he said goodbye. The second time I looked at him and immediately dived away in the bushes.” The Gouwenaar did not know the man. He would be dark dressed with a black hoody, black t-shirt and black pants and binoculars around his neck.
About half an hour after the passer-by saw the suspect, the 39-year-old Eindhoven on the Bosweg in Gouda is shot. That happened in the presence of children.
Half an hour in the bushes
K. was sentenced to 13 years in prison in 2009 for attempted murder of his ex. From the verdict of the court case at the time, it can be concluded that he entrenched himself in the bushes in the Hoogheem district for almost half an hour. His ex arrived with her brother and son and walked to her flat. K. approached them and opened the fire. The woman ended up in Intensive Care and barely survived the murder attack, but had permanent physical and psychological complaints.
Declaration against ex-husband
The woman who was shot on Tuesday made a report against Driekus K. Last month after the report, the man was arrested for abuse and firearm possession. Two weeks later he was released again.
The woman died on Tuesday on her injuries. K. was found seriously injured in the dunes in Scheveningen after an hour -long search. He too could no longer be saved.
A spokesperson for the Public Prosecution Service (OM) of Oost-Brabant has previously announced that he will take femicide into account ‘certainly’. The OM is currently drawing up a timeline of the events prior to the shooting.
What is femicide?
Femicid or women’s murder is deliberately killing a woman or girl because she is a woman or girl. Often domestic violence, (honor) revenge, hatred or control play a role in femicide.
In many cases the perpetrator is a partner or ex-partner. But it can also be a family member, friend or knowledge or even an unknown woman.
Omroep Brabant made a true crime series about femicide. The series is about José van Vliet who was killed in India by her partner Remco S. You can see Toxic on Brabant+.
Earlier Omroep Brabant made an episode about femicide: from loved one to murderer. View this episode here:
