Dresden fans provoke with banners – threat of punishment

The fans of the third division team Dynamo Dresden always cause a stir. Now a banner could result in another penalty.

Third division team Dynamo Dresden is once again threatening trouble with the DFB. During FC Ingolstadt’s league game against Dresden, Saxony’s fans in the guest block displayed a banner with the inscription: “There is only one ridiculous DFB…….and two genders!”

The background is probably a similar banner from the fans of Bundesliga leaders Bayer 04 Leverkusen. At the game against Werder Bremen in November they had a banner with the inscription “There are many styles of music, but only two genders!” shown. For this, the DFB sports court imposed a fine of 18,000 euros on the club last week.

There is a risk of further punishment

The reason: The association viewed the banner as “discriminatory and unsportsmanlike behavior on the part of the supporters”. The Dresden fans are now apparently on the side of the Leverkusen fans.

This means that the third division team is now likely to face a penalty. It wouldn’t be the first this year. It was only in January that Dynamo had to pay a fine of 90,000 euros because the fans had set off massive amounts of pyrotechnics during the game against Halleschen FC. A total of 240 flares were lit. Several fans sustained minor burn injuries and had to receive medical care.
