After Lisa Harms and Marianne Veenstra, a Drenthe artist can shine again during the Songfestival region. The song festival of the thirteen regional broadcasters will have a third edition. This time Arnhem is the host.
The win of Emma Luca (Omroep Gelderland) brings the Songfestival region on Saturday, November 1 to the Arnhem city theater. With her number Illusion Luca was very successful with both public and professional jury. The previous two editions of the Songfestival region were held in Maastricht and Utrecht.
Each broadcaster selects its entry through its own preliminary round. Although the interpretation differs per region, the same rules apply to everyone: the artists may not have been in the Dutch Top 40, sing in Dutch or in a regional language, and bring an original, not previously released number.
In Drenthe it works as follows. The winner of Songfestival Drenthe, Pop in ‘t Plat is automatically delegated to the Songfestival region. Ten regional artists compete on 7 June in the RTV Drenthe building for the win and therefore a place in the national spotlights. The Drentse Songfestival is the successor of the Drèents Liedtiesfestival, of which the last edition was last year.
