In Drenthe, it is increasingly being tipped for Meld Misdaad Anonymous. It concerns 838 reports in the past year. That is an increase of 8 percent compared to 2023. 775 reports arrived in that year.
Our province is no exception, because the number of tips also increased in the rest of the country. It concerns more than 24,000 reports last year, an increase of 19 percent. Half of the reports (12,307) were about drug crime. In second place are violent crimes such as open violence, domestic violence and animal abuse (2,558).
Furthermore, it is striking that Meld Misdaad anonymously received a record number of reports about attacks, raw materials for explosives and the storage of and trade in illegal fireworks. There were 777, the year before there were 512.
In certain cases, tips for Meld Misdaad anonymously cause a breakthrough. Last year, agents discovered weapons, fireworks, narcotic drugs and hemp farms in Assen, Emmen, Gasselte and Zuidlaren, among others. A drug lab was also rolled up with the help of the anonymous hatch last October in Emmer-Compascuum.
