Drake on ‘Degrassi’ Casting: ‘I got stoned right before my audition’

Drake has since wondered if he’s “still high” or really living this life of stardom.

Drake shared a video on Instagram in which he talks about his biggest fear in life, as well as reminiscing about his first audition for Degrassi: The Next Generation.

On Wednesday (July 5), Drake’s It’s All A Blur tour kicked off in Chicago with 21 Savage. Shortly before the performance, the US rapper posted a clip with the caption “IT’S ALL A BLUR TONIGHT”. In this video, Drake explained that he was recently asked what his biggest fear was. A question that has always been difficult for him to answer and that has thrown him into a spiral of thoughts. Ultimately, however, it is the fear that everything could have been in vain. “Somehow the idea that one day life will just end and everything will go black,” continues the 36-year-old.

Pondering the question also made him think more about his life overall and “how surreal it can feel at times.” The “Hotline Bling” musician also mentally traveled back to the beginning of his career and confessed in the clip that he got high with friends before his first interview for the “Degrassi” show:

“I remember that day when I was 13 or 14. I auditioned for a television show that ultimately shaped my life. I went to this guy before my audition and out of a desire to be accepted, I bowed to peer pressure and got high with these kids right before my audition.”

Since then, Drake has repeatedly asked himself, “If anything bad happened that day, or if I’m still high, or if I’m in a coma, acting out my ideal life.” While his life feels real, Drake says he still can’t quite believe his achievements.
