With 22 participating teams and a full program around the event, the Dragon Boat Race on Erica was successful for the second year in a row. And although not everyone stayed dry, there was a cheerful mood.
“Beer, beer, beer!” A drummer indicates the rhythm at the head of the boat. Not by counting, but by offering his paddlers a golden yellow prize. Fun may be an asset, but once in the water all teams want to win.
This applies, for example, to the young team of Volle Vaart Vooruit. Last year they came very close to first. “I think it was five hundredths of a second,” says Sem, who saw his team lose to Vakkie F. He thinks that his team of friends will take the first prize today. “We make a better impression than Vakkie F.”
