Douwe Bob has revealed that he stopped taking antidepressants after seventeen years, but this causes misunderstanding among Evert Santegoeds. “That you think you need this…”
After tapering off for a while, Douwe Bob put an end to it: taking antidepressants. The 33-year-old singer started doing this when he was 16 years old. “I have been taking antidepressants for seventeen years,” he reveals Instagram. “I took that every morning. I have been taking half for six months now and this is the third day that I have stopped completely.”
Numb
Why is Douwe quitting? “Because it is only now that I feel for the first time – after three years completely clean from alcohol – that I am now at the point in my life that I can feel everything in my life, I can handle everything. I had to be sedated for that first.”
Private boss Evert Santegoeds is shocked. “Seventeen years? I never knew it was so serious. That you think you need this… You have a wonderful life, such an enormous talent. Then at a certain point it’s just habit and you can’t dare to do without it anymore?” Show news.
Unnecessary
Evert feels like it was all unnecessary. “Going to the Eurovision Song Contest with antidepressants in your system?! I think it’s sad. If he feels good now, I think: what a shame he didn’t try that much sooner.”
Studio guest Rob Geus: “How old is Douwe now? Seventeen years old guys, hey. Then he was really young. My god. Sad.”
Elephant
The medication that Douwe used was really very intense, Evert believes. “That’s what makes an elephant happy.”
According to music expert Ronald Molendijk, we should not turn a mosquito into an elephant. “Isn’t it common knowledge that a lot of people in the Netherlands are on antidepressants? There are also an absurd number of sleeping pills.”
