Double strike saves polar bears Berlin – Munich stays ahead

Thanks to a late double strike, the Eisbären Berlin in the German Ice Hockey League (DEG) prevented the next disappointment. The champions fought an important 4:3 (2:1, 0:2, 2:0) against Fischtown Pinguins Bremerhaven in their own hall and stopped their descent.

Table leaders Red Bull Munich won 3:2 (1:2, 1:0, 0:0, 1:0) after extra time against the Straubing Tigers and was able to pull away at the top. Adler Mannheim won 3-1 (1-1, 1-0, 1-0) at the Cologne Sharks, the former champions took third place in the table behind Munich and ERC Ingolstadt.

Meanwhile, the Nürnberg Ice Tigers beat the Düsseldorf EG 4:1 (1:0, 2:1, 1:0), the Augsburg Panthers at the bottom lost 2:4 at home to the Schwenninger Wild Wings (1:2, 0:0, 1: 2). Promoted Löwen Frankfurt prevailed against the Grizzlys Wolfsburg with 2:1 (0:0, 1:0, 0:1, 0:0, 1:0) after a penalty shootout.

Three days after the Eisbären bankruptcy in Cologne (2:3), Matt White equalized against Bremerhaven to make it 3:3 (50th). Less than two minutes later, Yannick Veilleux took the lead (51′), the Pinguins fought in vain to equalize and slipped down to fourth place. Yasin Ehliz (63rd) scored the extra point in Munich.
