US President Donald Trump once again caused a sensation and has now asked an NFL team to accept his former racist name again. Later he sent a threat afterwards.
Trump, who is already known to say and do controversy things, has been pre-drew on his social media platform “Truth Social” on Sunday and has called for a return to the racist name “Redskins” from the Washington Commanders and its owner Josh Harris.
“The Washington ‘Whatever’ should change your name in Washington Redskin’s Football Team immediately,” Trump rumbled. In the same breath, he also demanded that the MLB team Cleveland Guardians should call himself “Indians” again.
And if the Commanders in particular do not meet his demand, Trump threatened to continue to be sanctions directly in a further contribution: “I will possibly impose a restriction if you do not change the name in the original name ‘Washington Redskins’ and get rid of the ridiculous nickname ‘Washington Commanders’.” And further: “I will not make a deal for the construction of a stadium in Washington.”

Trump attack just a firite fire?
Trump’s predecessor Joe Biden signed a law in January of this year, according to which Robert F. Kennedy Stadium’s demolition tires will be transferred to the District of Columbia in Washington. This had created the prerequisite for building a new stadium in the same place.
However, there was no threatening gesture for the Guardians, presumably because he had just not taken any pressure from it.
Years ago, the Commanders had separated from his name Redskins (Rothäu) years ago and have been called Commanders since 2022. Before that, it was even called “Washington Football Team” in a transition phase.
The background of the whole should not necessarily be known to Trump’s known antipathy towards the NFL – the owners of the league had ruled it several times as potential buyers of a franchise, most recently when Buffalo Bills were sold to Terry and Kim Pegula in 2014.
Rather, it should be about igniting a disturbance again. Trump is currently under pressure on his own basis because he is now blocking the promised publication of the Epstein files, which probably has to do with the fact that he himself is prominently represented there, as various sources indicate.
However, actual deeds related to the Commanders is not to be expected at first.
