A motorist (40) from Tilburg was arrested by the police on Tuesday afternoon after a chase in which speeds of 150 kilometers per hour were reached. The man is said to have crawled behind the wheel under the influence of ketamine. The chase started in Tilburg and ended in Drunen. Agents and passers -by had to divert several times for the motorist. According to the police, that was always just good.

Because of these dangerous traffic situations, the police broke the chase at a certain moment to pick it up again a little later.

Sheltered
The man was put out of a homeless shelter in Tilburg on Tuesday afternoon. He would then have crawled behind the wheel under the influence of ketamine. When alarmed agents later stopped the driver in Tilburg, they gave the man a driving ban. He didn’t want to know much about that: he immediately drove away with squeaking tires.

Agents then use the pursuit. On the Midden-Brabantweg in the direction of Waalwijk, the fleeing driver tapped speeds of at least 150 kilometers per hour. At one point a police car almost collided on the back of the man’s car. According to the police, that happened when he suddenly put the brakes full.

Pepper spray
Then the suspect drove ‘with an emergency’ through Waalwijk, the police describe. There, agents had to break down the chase because the traffic situation became too dangerous for passers -by. When the police saw the suspect a little later in Drunen, she again started the chase. Two police officers were waiting for him and gave him a stop signal. The Tilburger ignored the signal and, according to the police, drove ‘hard in the direction of the agents’. They had to divert. “This was just going well,” the police say.

Eventually the man got out of his car on a sandy path in Drunen. There, agents managed to pick him up with the help of pepper spray. The Tilburger is suspected of three times attempted manslaughter, dangerous driving behavior, driving under the influence and driving during a driving ban. He’s still stuck.
