Dog escapes from bench in spacious plane: cat-and-mouse game with Marechaussee at Schiphol

Last Saturday, the Marechaussee at Schiphol had to make great efforts to find an escaped dog in an airplane. The animal, a Shiba Inu, had chewed the tie wraps of his dog crate in a plane that arrived at Schiphol and was difficult to catch, according to the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee.

The dog was transported in the hold of the aircraft. The Marechaussee does not want to say where the device came from and which company it was. Marechaussee dog handlers lured the dog by playing with him with a ball. Finally they got the dog back in his crate.

The dog and his owners were reunited on the plane, in order to reassure him there. According to the military police, the dog was happy to see its owners and the animal is doing well.

Animals often escape at Schiphol, but the case with the Shiba Inu had not been experienced by the spokesman for the Marechaussee in eight years of service at the airport.

Last year a dog escaped from the animal hotel at Schiphol. It was a week later found by volunteers in the vicinity of the airport.
