Fire drama in Brandenburg with a happy ending! A dog rescued its sleeping master from the flames.
A year ago, Lothar B. (67) took little Cypi (18 months) out of the home and gave him a loving home. Now the Miniature Schnauzer crossbreed risked his little dog’s life and saved his master from death by fire!
Lothar B. lived with his Cypi in a converted garage complex on his landlord’s property on Karl-Holzfäller-Straße in Wolterdorf (Oder-Spree).
On Sunday night, arsonists set fire to both of the owners’ cars. It was already the sixth arson in the village within the last ten weeks!
The flames quickly spread to Lothar B.’s home. The hard of hearing pensioner slept soundly and didn’t hear anything.

But Cypi was alert. He jumped into master’s bed, tugged at the ceiling. “I woke up because Cypi barked, pinched my arm and jumped on me,” says Lothar B.
Then he saw the flames, smelled the noxious smoke. The 67-year-old grabbed his faithful friend and escaped with him to the outside.
The BMW and the A-class of his landlord were in full fire. Lothar B. had to watch as his home burned down to the ground.
“If it hadn’t been for my Cypi, I would definitely not be alive anymore,” says the pensioner.
When he was six months old, he got the crossbreed from an animal shelter in Brandenburg. Shelter workers reported that Cypi was rescued from a neglected household in Poland.

Lothar B. and Cypi are now staying in the landlord’s house. It’s not a permanent solution. “I don’t know how to proceed,” said the pensioner.
He hopes to be able to move back into his house someday. But the most important thing for him is that Cypi is by his side.
