Tina Nijkamp denies that she really hates Robert ten Brink, but admits that she is left with an aftertaste about his sudden departure from SBS 6. “Stunned and upset.”
Robert ten Brink (70) made a controversial switch from SBS 6 to RTL 4 in the past. He informed SBS boss Eric ten Stade quite unexpectedly during a telephone conversation. “He was at a dinner party and it was just such an incredibly shitty conversation. He didn’t see it coming and he wasn’t happy at all,” he said recently.
What does Tina say?
It was a dinner party that Tina Nijkamp also attended. “I think it was just that Tina Nijkamp had started at SBS and I still get a taste of it from time to time small side notes from her too… Not the aggression, but a nasty aftertaste that everyone still has in the back of their mouth.”
Is that correct? Tina tells in the Weekend: “I understand that he thinks so. I have been quite critical of a number of his programs in the past. Not of All You Need Is Love, but of the poor viewing figures of Lotto Weekend Miljonairs. And I honestly thought Opvoeden Doe Je Zo! was a very bad program.”
Difficult call
Tina is critical about that. “I can imagine that that period was not fun for him. It is not without reason that Robert calls it the most difficult call. I was there during that call to Eric from Stade, we had dinner with the program management. Robert called and Eric then came back completely bewildered and upset.”
She continues: “I was especially sorry that we lost All You Need Is Love. The first year my husband pasted the SBS6 logo over the RTL4 logo, because otherwise I couldn’t look at it. Haha! So yes, it was very important to me.”
Chemistry
What was the chemistry like between Tina and Robert? “I didn’t really have a good relationship with him yet, because I hadn’t been at that position at SBS6 for very long. I understand that Robert now thinks that way. Because that podcast also showed that it had made a very big impression on him. I met him again afterwards, on Renze’s talk show.”
“We had a nice chat then. It’s not like I think back to that time. But when he called, I was disappointed, because of All You Need Is Love.”
Dinner
What does Tina think about Robert calling during a dinner party instead of coming to the office? “News travels like wildfire on television. You don’t want the news to spread before you have shared it yourself. So I don’t see it as ill will on his part.”
“Even at that time, the news spread very quickly…”
