The deluxe edition of D4VD’s debut album “Withered” did not appear as planned. And the remaining appointments of his North America tour were also deleted. The reason is the ongoing examination in connection with the decayed body of a missing teenager who was discovered in the trunk of a Teslas registered on the musician.
Tour cancellation and canceled events
The extended edition, “Withered: Marcescence”, should appear today, is not available on Spotify or on other streaming services. According to “TMZ”, D4VDS Label Interscope (a daughter of Universal Music Group) stopped publication and put all the doctoral activities on hold.
Neither D4VDS nor interscopes representatives have so far responded to inquiries. As “Variety” reports, the last two shows of the North America tour have also been canceled. The musician should have performed in San Francisco today and on Saturday in Los Angeles. An event in the Grammy Museum on September 24th was also deleted.
“Withered” was originally published in April, received good reviews and reached 13th place on the Billboard 200 charts. In August, D4VD-bourgeois David Anthony Burke-announced the deluxe edition. According to a setlist, which he divided into Instagram on September 7 (one day before the discovery of the body), the album would have contained 15 new songs, with features from Hannah Bahng, Malcolm Todd, Realestk, Keshi and Julia Wolf.
“Cooperation” with the authorities
“Every song only written on my cell phone, baby,” wrote D4VD. “I have put together this project out of passion so that the raw emotional force of my music is preserved. Thanks to all friends who worked with me – you delivered your parts.”
According to an earlier message, Burke cooperates with the investigators. He is neither a suspect nor was he officially accused of a crime.
The body had been discovered in the trunk of the Teslas after the police were called to a towing yard in Hollywood because of a bad smell. It took a week for the forensic doctor to identify the dead as the 15-year-old Celeste of Riva’s 15-year-old. Burke was on tour at the time of the find and played several shows before he canceled the concert in Seattle on Wednesday.
Investigations in Hollywood Hills
The Tesla had been towed into the Hollywood Hills in the wealthy Bird Street district. Neighbors told Rolling Stone that the car had previously been seen in various places in the district. Finally he was towed by the Bluebird Avenue, where he is said to have stood for at least three weeks.
After Rivas had been identified, the police searched a house in Doheny Place, just a block from the parking location of the car. The officers secured several objects, including a computer. The homeowner later confirmed to Rolling Stone that the property had been rented to Burkes Manager Josh Marshall since February 2024.
Tattoos and song leak heat speculation
Rivas’ identification triggered numerous speculations and rumors – especially about alleged connections to Burke. Investigators found a striking “SHH …” tattoo on one of her fingers. TMZ later published a photo of Burke, on which he apparently wears a similar tattoo. In addition, an allegedly lacquer, previously unpublished song by D4VD with the title “Celeste” is circulating online.
