Does the retailer bring coffee and clothes to the Metaverse?

The Hamburg trading group and coffee roaster Tchibo is familiarizing itself with Web3 and is getting the support of the digital agency Dept, which has already helped the Swedish fashion group H&M with its virtual showroom.

The first push to embrace the Metaverse with cryptocurrencies and NFTs came from the partners in August, Dept announced on Tuesday. In a next step, joint implementation is planned.

“Tchibo has already implemented digital innovation projects with us in the live shopping area in the past,” said Jan Gutkuhn, Director Web3 & Partner at Dept. “We are now all the more pleased to be able to build on the existing cooperation with our Web3 expertise.”

The companies have not yet announced to what extent Tchibo will develop the Metaverse for itself and whether in the future coffee can be sipped digitally and paid for with Bitcoins.

“We look forward to working together and are curious to see what potential we can identify with Dept for Tchibo and what our first joint steps into Web3 could look like,” said Simon Kinzel, Team Lead Business Development at Tchibo.
