The most important news first: Lorde will publish a new LP with “Virgin” on June 27th. While the first listening impression with “what was that” last week indicated that the New Zealander is now pursuing the uncompromising art-pop approach with which she has become famous, the cover again causes discussions.
Even the predecessor “Solar Power” withdraws critics and fans with his upskirt look. Now Lorde presents an X -ray that apparently shows her pelvic area, with her hip bones, her belt buckle and a zipper can be seen.
What is now disturbing or impressing many is an intimate detail that can be seen on the recording: a T-shaped object that seems like an intrauterine pessary. It would simply be seen how the person depicted – presumably but unconfirmed the singer – would be contraceptive.
An iup, also known as a spiral, is inserted into the uterus to prevent pregnancy. There are different types, including the copper -containing spiral and the hormone spiral.

Lorde announces “Virgin” as a very personal album
The highly intimate X-ray image would also fit very clearly to the announcement of Lordes that the new songs were written “100 percent with blood”. In a statement in Versalia, the 28-year-old illustrated the intimacy of her new record:
“The color of the album is clear. Like bathroom water, windows, ice, spit. Completely transparent. The language is simple and unsentimental. The sounds are, wherever possible. I tried to see myself, through and through. I tried to create a document that reflects my femininity: raw, original, innocent, elegant, open, spiritual, masculine. There is no way to hide.
Many Lorde fans talk about being prepared for so much openness on the net. Some suspect that it could be a socio -political statement. One user praised on Instagram: “A spiral on Lorde’s new cover ??? Contraceptive queen.” Another trailer was surprised: “Never thought that I would see Lordes Iup, but hey, everything is possible.”
In recent years it had become a little calmer about Lorde, but she has remained productive. “Solar Power” was released in 2021, but then there was an EP with newly recorded songs from these sessions, which she sang on Māori. With Hunter Schafer from “Euphoria” she also chatted in a podcast, covered Rosalía’s song “Hentai” and launched her own radio station. Most recently, she was also heard on the compilation “Everyone’s Getting Involved: A Tribute to Talking Heads’ Stop Making Sense” with a cover from “Take Me To The River”.
