It is almost ten years ago that Irene Moors presented her iconic Sunday show with Carlo Boszhard for the last time. Does she accept this desolate end of her TV job?

Irene Moors wanted a lot, but got little and then she was fed up: she exchanged RTL 4 – after an unprecedented period of 26 years of loyal service – for SBS 6. She pulled the plug from her successful Sunday show with Carlo Boszhard ten years ago, she left with a lot of bombing of Hilversum and then disappeared in the Bermudadriehriehriehriekriekriehoek.

Comfortless

Irene no longer succeeded in fascinating the viewers and now we only find her at BN’er parties where free alcohol is served. Does she accept this desolate end of her TV career or will she do everything again to convince RTL 4 boss Peter van der Vorst and arrange a new show with Carlo?

Does Irene miss the image tube? “It was great! But it was good too. That was then and that time will not come back. Carlo and I did so much live – we could not hide behind anything or anyone. The tension – is it going to work out? – That was special. You should be yourself, it couldn’t be otherwise,” she looks back in Telephotist.

Charm

It was a unique TV period of radical authenticity, says Irene. “That was how we were able to get very close to the viewers and she was with us. That was the charm. But when I was a lot in the picture, I also had it spicier.”

TV life is incredibly heavy, says Irene. “You bear responsibility for viewing figures, for the quality of the programs and everything that comes with it.”

Busy

The pressure was just incredibly high, says Irene. “If you are successful it is fun, but then you have to hold it. I felt that I wanted to stop at a peak. They could have made the TV canteen another season, but it was good for me.”

And so Irene opts for the easy way: the cheese -right red carpet with a vibrant glass of champagne at the end of the carpet. Cheers!
