Hélène Hendriks (45) has deposed Wendy van Dijk from her throne at SBS 6, but what if it is her turn later? Does she see a threat in the much younger Estavana Polman (33)?
Estavana Polman is quitting her handball career and wants to focus on television. She doesn’t know yet whether she wants to go to RTL or Talpa, but for now she mainly has close contact with camp Talpa. Johan Derksen would like to see her at the table at Today Inside, but is at the same time unsure about what Estavana can actually do.
Hélène worried?
Estavana has already been dubbed a kind of new Hélène Hendriks. How does the SBS 6 presenter see that? “Well, that could just be possible. Or just with me, I would like that even more. She is a very nice girl. You can have a lot of fun with her,” she says in front of the camera. The Telegraph.
Is Hélène worried? “You should never worry about competition. That’s such nonsense. Give people things in everything. That applies to everything. It may be very stupid for me to say it, but if, for example, they had asked Noa for this program, I would have only welcomed it and helped her. You have to give people things.”
Do not tie up
Hélène advises Estavana not to sign exclusively with a channel. “Yes, I have certainly spoken to her. I would only welcome it and I would of course very much like her to come to us, but she has to make that choice herself. She has to choose something that suits her.”
She continues: “I would never commit myself. I would always just remain free. It still has a bright future and where that is, we will see. Es is of course a blurb and you can very well have it.”
Choosing cherry
What should Estavana do? “That all remains to be seen and what she likes. Look, something like that (Hélène’s Staatsloterij show, ed.)… I think she would also find that fantastic: that physicality and that ehh… This is really just sporty.”
She concludes: “Yes, with that previous program she also showed that she can communicate well with people and that she brings a certain atmosphere and a certain ease with her. But I also said to Es – and Es knows very well what she wants -: ‘Just watch, let it flow and see what comes your way. And then choose the cherry.’”
