Does Behrens want to dethrone Union Real here?

By Paul Gorgas

For the royal premiere, Union has a goalscorer in royally good form!

Kevin Behrens (32) wants to create a sensation with the Iron Men in the Champions League at Real Madrid on Wednesday – and overthrow the Royals.

The striker posed on a throne in Köpenick’s new premier class dress – from which the Champions League newcomers want to overthrow the record winner during their appearance in Madrid? Pretty brave and cheeky, the people of Köpenick.

One thing is clear: Behrens is in top shape for the task! The attacker is the king of the skies in the Bundesliga, scoring all four goals this season with his head – the best in the league!

For Behrens, who was still storming in the regional league in 2018, things are going higher and higher. In the BILD interview, Behrens recently revealed: “If you look back over the last few years, you can say that I have actually always improved. I’ve become quicker when it comes to understanding the game.”

Now Behrens wants to climb to the next level and improve his game to Champions League level – then Union will be ready for the throne!

Before that, there’s everyday Bundesliga action on Saturday in Wolfsburg (3:30 p.m., live on Sky and in the BZ live ticker) – and the hardest task will probably be to ignore the Madrid hit until then.

Coach Urs Fischer (57) honestly: “We tried to prepare the team so that they keep their focus. It’s important to observe: Are we prepared to go to the limit and show the ultimate consequence?”

Fischer continued: “That is the face we want to get on the pitch in every game. Can we do it if you have a highlight game four days later? This is a challenge for all of us.”

At the same time, it is clear: Only those who give their all in Wolfsburg can have a chance of getting the coveted starting eleven places in the premier class – there is no more motivation than that.

And for Behrens, the appearance at the Wolves is the opportunity to warm up for the Royals!
