Do you want to see the northern lights? Then grab your chance tonight and tonight

There is a good chance today that we will be able to see the northern lights in Brabant. This is what amateur astronomer Victor van Wulfen from Heeswijk Dinther says. The Northern Lights are a light spectacle that is mainly visible in northern countries, but due to the high solar activity there is a serious chance that we can see them even in our province.

The Northern Lights have been seen more often in Brabant recently. Depending on the strength of the energy that storms emit on the sun, see green, purple and red colors. These storms, think of them as volcanic eruptions, on the sun occur in an orbit of eleven years. We are now at the end of this cycle and that is when the eruptions are at their most intense.

Signals on green
“It may just happen that we can see the Northern Lights in the afternoon when the sun sets,” says Victor excitedly. Clouds can still spoil the spectacle, but the prospects are favorable. “There are a lot of clear skies, especially in the west of the province, and the clouds also disappear occasionally in the east.”

According to him, this does not mean that we can now see the Northern Lights every day. “Several signals should be green, but that seems to be the case on Friday afternoon and evening.”

Profit warning
Victor himself stops site Clear Skies all weather phenomena. In addition, he has a lot of confidence in one Belgian web page who is only concerned with the polar lights.

Victor gives a small profit warning. “With the Northern Lights, small circumstances can change, meaning the party doesn’t go ahead. That’s why you can never predict it with certainty. On that Belgian site you continuously receive up-to-date information, so you can see what the chances are.”
