Henny Huisman may lose his schnabbel at Radio 538. The makers of the morning show strongly doubt whether they want to continue with his joke section. “It’s just not fun.”
It is a bit crazy: 72-year-old Henny Huisman who tells jokes on Talpa Radio’s youth channel. He moved with Tim Klijn’s team from Radio Veronica to Radio 538, but now that they are all over, doubts strike. Is Henny actually funny enough for the channel’s morning show?
Bad joke
The doubts have been playing for several weeks, because Henny also told such a bad joke at the beginning of the month. Tim and his colleagues expressed their doubts live on the radio and that makes the TV senior insecure. “He does ask every time I speak to him: ‘Yes, I think the boys don’t like me that much’”, revealed sidekick Rick Romijn recently.
Tim then: “Ah, I really like Henny.”
Fellow sidekick Niels van Baarlen: “Ah, yes, man. It is great fun with Henny.”

Newsreader Florentien van der Meulen understands Henny’s uncertainty. “But you’re going to piss him off too, aren’t you?”
Tim: “It depends on the joke. If the joke is good… He had a really nice joke last Monday. That made me laugh out loud, about the barbecue and the sausage. I really liked that. But it’s not always uh…”
Niels: “Yes, of course. It’s not always funny.”
“Do we still want it?”
Henny was allowed to tell a joke again last Monday, just before he went on a trip for Beter Laat Dan Nooit. “We will be in touch with Henny Huisman later this morning,” Tim announces.
Rick: “Maybe the last time we talk to him.”
Tim: “Yes, he is going abroad. The question is of course…”
Niels: “Will he come back from that?”
Tim then loudly: “Yes, and: do we also want him back?”
Rick, who has a good relationship with Henny: “Yes, of course! You are not going to serve Henny Huisman down, are you?”
Short joke
A little later it is Henny’s turn with his joke. “I have a short joke, but it’s funny.”
Rick laughing: “It’s about time.”
Then the joke: “Oh, good. haha. An elephant and a camel meet, the elephant says to the camel: ‘Are we going to have fun with those tits on your back?’ Does that camel say: ‘Do you want to say something with that l*l out of your mouth?’”
It then falls completely silent. Another bad joke. Tim: “Yes… Yes…”
Henry: “Okay…”

Tim: “It is very short.”
Henny: “I want to tell him again.”
Tim seriously: “No, leave that alone.”
Rick laughing: “That doesn’t make it any better!”
Niels later in the broadcast, when Henny is no longer on the phone: “Was this the last joke with Henny?”
Tim: “Maybe this is a good time to ehhh…”
Painful…
