The Czech tennis player Renata Voracova has been arrested by the Australian border protection authorities in a similar case to that of the Serbian world number one Novak Djokovic.
According to the Czech government, the 38-year-old’s visa has been revoked. She had already taken part in a preparation tournament for the Australian Open.
As the newspaper “The Age” and “ABC News” report, the double specialist is said to have entered the country with an exemption from the vaccination because she had been infected with the corona virus in the past six months.
The Czech Foreign Ministry told the AFP news agency that she was now in the same accommodation as Djokovic. Voracova has already agreed to leave Australia. There is also said to be a third case of a tournament official.
Djokovic, the world number one from Serbia, wants to continue to defend his title at the first Grand Slam of the year (from January 17) in Melbourne with a medical exemption. A court should decide on Monday on the threat of deportation.
