Novak Djoković found the trail of success in Florida. However, he triggered discussions away from the square.
It is currently going on for Novak Djoković. He was able to end his negative series at the Masters tournament in Miami and was in the round of 16 after the 37-year-old was able to defeat the Australian Rinky Hijikata and then the Argentinian Camilo Ugo Carabelli.
Djoković had previously lost three times in a row: In the semi -finals of the Australian Open, he had to give up against Alexander Zverev, and he left early in Doha and Indian Wells. Djoković last experienced such a series of three defeats in a row in 2018.
However, Djoković not only causes a stir on the square. The Serb met with the controversial health minister of the United States, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. He posted a photo of the two for the snapshot on which they are arm in arm in a tennis court, he wrote: “Novak Djoković. First in terms of integrity. First in terms of courage. Do you guess who won this match?”
Why is this meeting so explosive? Kennedy is known as an opponent of vaccination and vaccination skeptics. He is also criticized because of the spread of conspiracy theories, such as through corona pandemic, and because of contacts to right-wing extremist politicians (you can read more about this here). And Djoković also hits the same notch as Kennedy when it comes to vaccination.
He missed the Australian Open 2022 because he had denied the Corona vaccination. He was then excluded by the tournament. In January of this year, Djoković declared himself again and blamed the Australian government. When asked about the Australian Open 2022, he said: “I had health problems. I realized that I was given food in this hotel in Melbourne who had poisoned me.”
And further: “When I came back to Serbia, I made some discoveries. I never told that publicly, but I found really high heavy metal values. I had very high lead and mercury values.” The tennis star had not been allowed to enter the country due to a decree by the Australian government and was therefore in a quarantine hotel for weeks. During the corona crisis, Australia imposed one of the strictest quarantine laws in the world, unvaccinated people were not let into the country – that also applied to the world ranking at the time (you can read more about this here).
