“It is with great regret that we have to report on behalf of the Buthelezi family that Simiso Buthelezi has passed away in hospital in Durban,” said Boxing South Africa.
After the game things started to get worse for him. Buthelezi fell into a coma and fought for his life in hospital. The doctors were puzzled as to exactly what was wrong with him. “There is no change in his condition, he is in a coma. He is currently not talking, moving or doing anything,” his trainer, Bheki Mngomezulu, told the South African press earlier. “Doctors say he may have a blood clot in the brain from the blow to his head.”
“This is very hard to accept, especially for his family,” Mngomezulu continued. “Simiso just graduated two weeks ago from UniZulu in Zoology and Botany. The family cannot understand why this had to happen, because Simiso has a bright future.”
Unfortunately, that future has come to an early end.
