Disclosure: The NHL club is pushing a Finnish player to the Swedes

The Carolina Hurricanes are in an exceptional situation, as the club does not have a farm team in the AHL.

Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet including the Finnish defenseman of the NHL club Carolina Hurricanes Anttoni Honkaa23, is currently being actively offered to Swedish clubs.

Honka signed a three-year contract with Carolina in the summer of 2022, but has not yet managed to break into the tough NHL pack.

Last season, Honka played for the AHL team Chicago Wolves, who, however, stopped working with the Carolina Hurricanes for this season.

Because Carolina exceptionally does not have a contact club in the AHL, Honka is currently on a “farm farm” in the ECHL, Norfolk Admirals.

According to Aftonbladet, Carolina wants Honga to develop in a better environment than the ECHL and sees the SHL as a more suitable series for the Finn.

Honka won both the U18 and U20 World Cup gold in Finland’s youth national teams.

The defender, who is skilled on the puck, scored 6+28=34 power points in 70 games in the AHL last season. In the 2021–22 season, he scored 6+31=37 points in 57 regular season matches in the SM league in JYP’s shirt.
