Director of the Bally Foundation comes from Palais de Tokyo

The Bally Foundation appoints Vittoria Matarrese as Executive Director.

The foundation of the Swiss luxury brand Bally is dedicated to promoting art and culture in its home country. As director, Vittoria Matarrese will develop a project that will consolidate and expand the Bally Foundation’s work with artists, the company announced on Monday.

The aim is to create a place where culture is accessible to a wide audience. Cooperation activities with regional institutions such as the Museo d’arte della Svizzera italiana di Lugano and the Università della Svizzera italiana also have priority.

“We are particularly proud to be able to count on the presence and experience of a European personality in the arts and culture in Lugano,” said Nicolas Girotto, Bally Managing Director and Chairman of the Foundation. “I am confident that Vittoria will take our foundation’s cultural program to a new level of excellence.”

Vittoria Matarrese worked for twelve years as director of the performing arts program and curator at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris. Before that she worked for two years as artistic director of the Villa Medici in Rome.

With Matarrese, a senior manager of the Palais de Tokyo is going to a luxury group. Emma Lavigne, the former director of the Paris museum, is the managing director of Kering founder François Pinault’s Pinault collection.
