Dietmar Hamann apologizes to Thomas Tuchel

The mood between Dietmar Hamann and Thomas Tuchel has been tense for several months. Now there has been a new incident that the former regrets.

Dietmar Hamann apologized to the German soccer record champions Bayern Munich and their coach after his criticism of Thomas Tuchel. Before the Sky90 broadcast, he “heard Thomas Tuchel’s statement from the fan festival in the mask. In connection with the announcement of Xavi’s resignation from FC Barcelona and the current situation at FC Bayern, I found the statement inappropriate,” explained Hamann.

“Later in the emotional discussion I referred to it and did not correctly reproduce or misinterpret Thomas Tuchel’s statement,” admitted Hamann and explained: “He did not say that he would like to train in Barcelona or Spain . I would like to apologize to Thomas Tuchel and Bayern for this.”

Bavarians speak of “unobjective statements”

During a visit to the fan club, Tuchel responded to a question that he would be interested in going abroad again and emphasized that Spain in particular had “an extraordinary league”. Hamann sharply criticized this statement.

Bayern then complained in a statement on Monday about “unobjective statements” about Tuchel, without naming names. Record national player Lothar Matthäus, Hamann’s expert colleague on Sky, also showed understanding for Tuchel in his column for the pay-TV broadcaster: “He was asked and gave an honest answer, and I think this answer is fine.” Tuchel cannot say that he will stay in Munich for life: “He is not yet 80 years old, he is only 50.”
