Javier Milei asked only for an official. First he had been on top of the designations of the eight ministers, several of which had been part of La Libertad advanced for a long time. But of all the areas that a government has that just comes to power to fill the libertarian, he was responsible for putting a only person. This important is Diego Spagnolo for him. Since he appointed him at the head of the National Disability Agency, at the end of 2023, his once lawyer was several times news. Very few for a good one, being the last accusation that Marlene Spesso, mother of a 12 -year -old boy who has autism, about the abuse that would have dispensed them in a meeting. That round trip climbed to the center of a national debate -which the president himself, which pointed to the child and spoke of a “Kirchnerist operation” -, and Spagnolo, again, was raised in the eye of the storm. But friends are friends.
Shoulder with shoulder. The libertarian met Spagnolo, like so many others -as for example Victoria Villarruel -through networks. The now official was an active user on Twitter, who at that time appeared under a pseudonym, yomparted the violence and virulence that always characterized the current president. Spagnolo gave time and attention, to someone who stood out precisely for having been exempt from this containment throughout his life. By the time the freedom was armed in the city of Buenos Aires, at the start of 2021, Milei convinced Spagnolo to join the adventure. Perhaps it was more out of necessity than for something else: at that time, in which the red circle and the bulk of journalism – among those who did not tell this magazine – looked at the libertarians as little more than one joke, they themselves cost them to fill the lists. The lawyer ended in the 11th place of the ballot to deputies, a more symbolic position than anything else.
However, the context in which Milei deepened his relationship with Spagnolo could be taken, with Monday’s diary, as a notice of what would come. It was in November 2021, when the libertarian was days to assume as a national deputy. At that time the economist had initiated a civil demand for journalists Fabián Doman, Martín Candalaft, Paulo Vilouta and Debora For a million pesos to each one, after they made a parallel between Nazism and the sayings of Milei -“we are aesthetically and morally superiors, shit left -handed” -. Spagnolo had a gesture that captivated Milei: he promised to take care of the defense of economist ad honorem, just charging the costs that the judicial process had. Especially that “heroic” action captivated Karina, who was always reluctant to spend a single more weight.
Spagnolo defended Milei in that trial – independent to which Milei would do, already as president, Carlos Pagni, Ari Lijalad and Viviana Canosa – and in others. One of them was the first pyramid scam that the libertarian promoted, “Coin X”, in 2022, another anticipation that the story sometimes repeats. The link came to such an extent that when Milei won the elections he looked for a place to give his friend. And the verb is not accidental: Spagnolo, who had only had a fleeting step through the world of health in the municipality of Pilar. There he advised Carlos Kambourian – who has a confirmed processing in second instance for embezzlement at the Garrahan hospital – in that portfolio. After that, the lawyer has no other scroll or credential that explains why he came to the position he is. Unless, as the caste was before, being a friend of the leader grants benefits and privileges.
Thread. Spagnolo is a free electron inside La Libertad advances. After the 2021 campaign he tried to search for a cobijo under the wing of Karina. He did not succeed: the sister is skilled to sniff those who are looking for more personal or patrimonial growth than a sincere conviction about the project, and quickly took it out. There the lawyer went to the tumbos in space, wanting to accommodate. He tested with Oscar Zago, another of the founders who would later be realized, but the link did not flow. Victoria Villarruel was another one of those pointed out, but Feeling’s lack was mutual. The “armed arm” of Santiago Caputo always distrusted him: the fact that he is one of the few to “leave” Twitter but, contrary to the rest, not to pay printedness to the off -road advisor and his assembly never liked. With the consultant Fernando Cerimedo, maybe, have some greater link. Is that his wife, Natalia Basil, an engineer with a past in “The daily right”, the medium of Cerimedo, was one of the agency’s directors.
However, Spagnolo moves at ease. He knows that he has the direct endorsement of the “one.” In fact, that is proven by his frequent visits to the fifth of Olivos: in 2024 he finished third in the ranking, with 31 meetings. This year he continues to lead the top of that list, very limited. The controversies surrounding Spagnolo – he published a resolution where he called “fools” and “idiots” to people with disabilities and is very resisted by that community for the strong cuts in that area, in addition to the episode with the child with autism – for now they do not touch it.
