Diego Porto, how were your beginnings in your profession?
I started working in an international consulting firm, in the selection area, while I was studying Human Resources at UADE. I was 20 years old at the time. From there, I added more than 15 years of experience in HR (in different areas and in two large organizations), various certifications and I am currently pursuing a degree in Psychology.
What are the services you provide as a professional?
I currently work independently, offering recruitment and outplacement services to companies, as well as career coaching to individuals. Regarding outplacement, I accompany companies in separation processes, providing support to collaborators to go through this stage and facilitate their reintegration into the labor market. On the other hand, in working with individuals, I accompany people who seek to reintegrate, generate a change, achieve specific objectives or who feel dissatisfied with their career, but are not clear about what steps to follow.
How do you project yourself for the future?
It is difficult to project it with complete certainty. I don’t know if I will continue to work independently or if I will combine this with an HR role within an organisation. What I am clear about is that I want to establish myself as a professional specialized in career transitions. In Argentina, many people aim to get a job, something that can sometimes seem “normal” to those who have it. But seeing the satisfaction of someone who achieves it is deeply gratifying.
What are your differentials in the sector?
I stand out for the combination of practical experience and academic training. From experience, my journey as a recruiter allows me to understand in depth how the labor market works, which gives me concrete tools to accompany those who are looking for new opportunities. Since training, being an ontological coach and studying Psychology allows me to better understand the person in front of me, not only from a professional perspective, but also from the internal processes they may be going through, often associated with frustration or uncertainty. Furthermore, my training as an outplacement consultant, carried out with a Spanish agency, gave me knowledge of top-level processes and the possibility of training with leading professionals in Europe.
If you were starting over, what would you do differently?
I am a very thoughtful person and I often ask myself this question, but I don’t come up with a conclusive answer. Maybe I would try to connect earlier with a long-term vision, to better guide my decisions from a younger age. Even so, I understand that each experience was part of the path that brought me here, so I probably wouldn’t change anything.
