Diddy cancels Grammy invitation despite being nominated – what’s the reason for that?

Did he want to forestall a possible disinvitation due to the allegations of abuse circulating against him?

Sean “Diddy” Combs has received a Grammy nomination for his album THE LOVE ALBUM: OFF THE GRID in the “Best Progressive R&B Album” category. Despite his nomination, the musician will not appear at this year’s award show on February 5, 2024. Why is that?

The reason for this could be the allegations of abuse against the 54-year-old. The organizer previously assured the US “Rolling Stone” regarding the allegations against Diddy: “We take this matter very seriously and are currently in the process of assessing it with the necessary time and care.” There were further innovations in this regard not yet, but it could still be that the rapper simply wanted to forestall a subsequent disinvitation from the “Recording Academy”.

Abuse and rape allegations against Diddy

Since November 2023, Diddy has had to face his fourth accusation of sexual assault. His ex-girlfriend, the musician Cassie, sued him for rape and abuse. In 2003, the rapper and colleagues are said to have drugged a then 17-year-old and then raped her in a group.

After that, more accusations followed. On the one hand, Diddy is said to have intentionally drugged Joi Dickerson-Neal in 1991, sexually abused her and filmed the whole thing so that the video could later be used as blackmail material against her, as “CNN” reported, among others. On the other hand, an anonymous plaintiff claims that she and a friend were raped alternately by him and the singer-songwriter Aaron Hall. She also testified that Diddy became physically violent toward her a few days later.
