Did Mané flee to Bayern because of Klopp?

In the summer Sadio Mané left Liverpool FC after extremely successful years and joined FC Bayern. Now a compatriot of the Senegalese, who himself once played for the Reds, has philosophized about the background to the spectacular transfer.

When Robert Lewandowski’s departure from FC Bayern became more concrete, there was amazing calm in the record champions’ camp. No wonder: In Sadio Mané they thought they already had the perfect successor for the top scorer in their own ranks.

And although the attacker recently had to struggle with a slump in form after a rocket launch, they on Säbener Straße are still fully convinced of his abilities. Indeed, Mané’s achievements before his move to Munich speak for themselves.

In Liverpool, the national player became English champion and Champions League winner and was considered one of the model students of cult coach Jürgen Klopp.

Apparently, the connection between Mané and the former BVB coach was not the best recently.

Did a lack of appreciation drive Mané to Bayern?

“At one point I think he felt like he wasn’t getting the love he deserved,” said former Reds player Salif Diao in an interview with the “Liverpool Echo“.

Mané’s Senegalese compatriot stressed: “I think it was more the team manager’s fault.”

Diao certainly understands the striker’s decision to leave Merseyside. “It just wasn’t going the way it was supposed to, so he decided to take on a new challenge,” he explained.

A good opportunity for FC Bayern, who were able to bag a 32 million euro transfer after tough negotiations.

Diao agrees: “As a top player, it’s always good to look for a new challenge after four or five years at a club.”
