“At one point I think he felt like he wasn’t getting the love he deserved,” said former Reds player Salif Diao in an interview with the “Liverpool Echo“.
Mané’s Senegalese compatriot stressed: “I think it was more the team manager’s fault.”
Diao certainly understands the striker’s decision to leave Merseyside. “It just wasn’t going the way it was supposed to, so he decided to take on a new challenge,” he explained.
A good opportunity for FC Bayern, who were able to bag a 32 million euro transfer after tough negotiations.
Diao agrees: “As a top player, it’s always good to look for a new challenge after four or five years at a club.”
