It is a great success for the team trained on Tuesday night (Dutch time) by Dean Gorré and Cor Pot, which is formed by players such as Eloy Room, Armando Obispo, Leandro Bacuna, Jürgen Locadia and Sontje Hansen.
Interim national coach Dean Gorré experienced an emotional moment in Dick Advocaat’s hotel room
While a first was at stake for Curaçao, Jamaica – coached by Steve McClaren – had the opportunity to qualify for the World Cup for the second time. The country was also present in 1998. That year, Jamaica gained three points in the global football competition with a victory over Japan, but failed in the group stage.
Dick Advocaat watches from The Hague
The 78-year-old trainer witnessed the enormous success from The Hague and gave instructions remotely. Advocaat, who coached the Dutch national team (in 1994) and South Korea (in 2006) at the World Cup, saw that Curaçao remained upright quite easily in the first half, but swerved a number of times after the break. Jamaica’s header hit the post and the crossbar.
Jeremy Antonisse, who came on for Kenji Gorré, seemed to provide relief in the 73rd minute. On a pass from Hansen, the attacker from Rosmalen seemed to open the score, but he was just offside.

World Cup draw on December 5
Because no more goals were scored in the nerve-wracking final phase – Jamaica hit the post again and had to continue with ten after a red card for Jon Russell – Curaçao will be there when the draw is held on December 5 at 6 p.m. in Washington for the tournament in Canada, Mexico and the United States, which will be played from June 11 to July 19.

For a moment, direct placement seemed to be in the water for Curaçao, but it was soon clear that Jeremy Antonisse hit the ball during an intervention, after which a penalty was reversed and the party could start.
Suriname not (yet) qualified for the World Cup
Suriname was unable to capitalize on its good starting position to reach the final round of the World Cup for the first time in history. In Guatemala City, national coach Stanley Menzo’s team lost 3-1, meaning that Panama, which itself won 3-0 against El Salvador, clinched its ticket for the World Cup
Huge deception for Suriname, which can still dream of the World Cup
Suriname narrowly joined the two best runners-up, meaning that the World Cup dream is not yet over. Menzo’s team therefore has a way out of the intercontinental play-offs to still obtain a ticket. Although that is a tough road to the World Cup in Mexico, Canada and the United States.
