Diamond League: Klosterhalfen is still looking for World Cup form

The German top runner Konstanze Klosterhalfen is still a long way from her best form with about a month before the start of the World Championships in her adopted home of Oregon.

At the Diamond League Meeting in Oslo on Thursday (June 16, 2022), third in the World Cup from Leverkusen over 5,000 meters came in eighth place. In a solid 14:37.92 minutes, the 26-year-old was well behind her personal best (14:26.76) and the winning time of Dawit Seyaum from Ethiopia (14:25.84).

“Great for a start”

“It was great as a start, even if I would of course have liked to run at the front.”said Klosterhalfen sky after a tough race in cold, rainy weather: “But it’s getting better from week to week. It was simply a world-class field today.”

Former Junior European Champion Alina Reh (Berlin) didn’t stand a chance. She finished 15th in 15:06.29 minutes, but only just missed her personal best.
