DHB Cup: Berlin, Hamburg and Melsungen in the quarter-finals

The round of 16 games in the DHB Cup have not held any surprises so far – the favorites from Berlin, Hamburg and Melsungen prevailed.

The Füchse Berlin are in the quarter-finals of the German Handball Cup. The Bundesliga table leader from the capital prevailed on Tuesday (December 12, 2023) against the second division leaders SG BBM Bietigheim with 42:33 (19:16). “We made too many technical mistakes in the first half”said Berliner Nils Lichtlein.

In the second half the Foxes’ game became more confident. Little light: “We then scored easy goals and managed to prevent Bietigheim from scoring easy goals.”

Baijens celebrates HSV comeback

HSV Hamburg, which defeated ThSV Eisenach 31:28 (14:16), is also one of the best eight clubs in the competition. Dani Baijens was the most celebrated player in Hamburg’s eight-final victory over their Bundesliga rivals from Thuringia.

In the 45th minute, the North Hessians were ahead by seven goals for the first time at 21:14 and had made the preliminary decision.

Draw on Thursday

The remaining five games of the round of 16, which include defending champions Rhein-Neckar Löwen and Champions League winners SC Magdeburg, will be played on Wednesday.

The draw for the quarter-finals follows on Thursday.
