The German national team will have to do without Manuel Neuer (36) and Leon Goretzka (27) in the Nations League games against Hungary (Friday) and England (Monday). As the DFB announced on Wednesday, the FC Bayern duo is out due to corona diseases. Both players are said to be symptom-free and will leave the team hotel in isolation.
The 23-man squad for September’s Nations League games
These 23 players are part of Hansi Flick’s squad for the Nations League games against Hungary on September 23 in Leipzig and three days later in London against England.
The goalkeeper trio is completed by Oliver Baumann. The 32-year-old from TSG Hoffenheim was already part of national coach Hansi Flick’s squad during the international four-pack in June, but was not used, just like when he was first nominated in September 2020. At the weekend, Baumann played his 400th game in the Bundesliga and kept his 100th clean sheet.
In addition to Baumann, other field players are also to be nominated later in the day. Flick had to complain about a loss with Marco Reus (33) at the weekend. Leipzig’s Benjamin Henrichs (25) replaced the BVB professional.
Olivier #Bauman of the @tsghoffenheim will be nominated. Additional late nominations will be announced throughout the day.
