Jamie Leweling

As of: March 24, 2026 • 12:25 p.m

National coach Julian Nagelsmann has to accept the next loss for the start of the national soccer team in the World Cup year. Stuttgart’s Jamie Leweling leaves the DFB team headquarters.

The 25-year-old cannot take part in the friendly games against Switzerland in Basel on Friday and against Ghana in Stuttgart on the following Monday due to muscle problems in his calf. Nagelsmann decided not to be nominated later and therefore still has 25 players in the squad.

The national coach had already reacted to the failures of Aleksandar Pavlovic and Felix Nmecha on Monday and nominated Stuttgart’s Angelo Stiller and Chris Führich. Führich is also a backup for the Leweling position on the offensive wing. His loss for the national team had recently been indicated at VfB.

Load control for Rüdiger and Havertz

Frankfurt’s Nathaniel Brown was missing from the first training session in Herzogenaurach after he suffered a blow in the 2-1 loss to Mainz 05. Antonio Rüdiger and Kai Havertz completed individual sessions in the fitness room to control their load.

Further Athletic trainer for Nagelsmann

In addition to the players, there will also be another athletic trainer. As the German Football Association (DFB) announced on Tuesday, the Belgian Bram Geers will join the current team of Nicklas Dietrich and Krunoslav Banovcic up to and including the World Cup in the summer.

The 32-year-old works for the Belgian record champions RSC Anderlecht Performance Director. Previously he was for FC Bayern Munich and the English Premier League-Club Burnley FC employed.
