Paul Maurice has seen a few games.
Head coach of the reigning Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers Paul Maurice59, made history in the NHL the night before Wednesday.
He became only the second coach in the entire series who has coached 2000 matches in his career.
There is just ahead of him Scotty Bowman (2141). Maurice will pass Bowman in the coming years, unless he nails his flipchart before now, which there has been no indication of. Maurice signed a multi-year contract extension with the Panthers in October 2024.
The Panthers won their coach’s celebratory match, but it didn’t come easily.
The champions of the last two years led the match 4–1 in the final set, but the Seattle Kraken came close.
The match stretched into extra time and finally all the way to the winning goal contest, where the only one was successful Vinnie Hinostroza.
It was a match for the winning goal Sergei Bobrovsky from the screen. The Konkari guard was calm and easily stopped the Kraken players’ attempts one after another.
Eetu Luostarinen struck out in the second inning of the Panthers’ 2–0 win.
The Panthers are ranked 14th in the Eastern Conference. The journey of the reigning champion ends this season with the regular season.
