Newcastle celebrates an important and clear victory in the Premier League. The focus is on two German national players.

Newcastle United achieved significant success in the Premier League – also thanks to two German national players. In the 4-1 (3-0) away win at Everton FC, Malick Thiaw scored twice and Nick Woltemade also contributed a goal. The “Magpies” moved up to eleventh place in the table.

Thiaw gave Newcastle the lead with a header in the first minute – it was his first goal for the club. After 19-year-old Lewis Miley made it 2-0, Woltemade brought the next highlight shortly before half-time: for his fifth goal of the season in the Premier League, the national player lobbed the ball over England number one Jordan Pickford to make it 3-0 (45th).

After the break, Thiaw headed home again (58′). For Everton, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall was only able to reduce the score to 1:4 (69′).

Manchester City narrowly prevailed in the Premier League a few days after their Champions League defeat against Bayer Leverkusen. Against Leeds United, Phil Foden scored the decisive goal in stoppage time to make it 3-2 (2-0) – and thus brought his team to second place in the table.

City got off to a perfect start against relegation candidate Leeds: after less than a minute, Foden took the lead from close range. Former Leipzig player Josko Gvardiol increased the score to 2-0 after a corner in the 25th minute. Further opportunities initially remained unused.

Leeds came close after the break through Dominic Calvert-Lewin (49th) and became more courageous. After Gvardiol fouled Calvert-Lewin, the promoted side was awarded a penalty. Felix Nmecha was initially denied by Gianluigi Donnarumma, but converted the follow-up shot to make it 2-2 (68′).

City responded with furious attacks – and were rewarded in injury time: Foden scored in the 90th + 1 minute to win.
