Shortly before the game begins in Bratislava, the DFB team must compensate for an unexpected failure. National coach Nagelsmann already has a replacement for the upcoming game.
National coach Julian Nagelsmann reacted to the injury to Niclas Füllkrug and nominated Maximilian Beier. After the start in the World Cup qualification against Slovakia for the second game on Sunday (from 8:45 p.m. in the live ticker near T-online), the Dortmund is to join the German national football team in Cologne.
According to the DFB in Bratislava, Füllkrug had to fit in the calf due to “slight muscular complaints”. There is no structural injury, it is a precaution. “It’s just a stupid place in the calf with too much risk,” said Nagelsmann in the ARD.
Beier, who was supposed to arrive on Thursday evening, had last played in the Nations League against Hungary (5: 0) and the Netherlands (2: 2) for Germany a year ago. His appointment once again refers to the major personnel problems in the attack: Kai Havertz and Tim Kleindienst had already failed for injuries before Füllkrug, and Jamal Musiala could not be nominated either.
