Three days after the celebrated success over Germany, Slovakia narrowly averted a setback in the World Cup qualification. In Luxembourg, the team of coach Francesco Calzona only won 1-0 (0-0) in injury time. Tomas Rigo scored the decisive goal in the first minute of the extra time (90.+1).
However, the hosts were the more active team over long distances. Luxembourg had more possession, more degrees and the clearer opportunities. Danel Sinani from Bundesliga club FC St. Pauli hit the post in the 34th minute and failed again after the break on the aluminum (49.).
