Slovakia shone in the game against Germany. The Slovaks were much more difficult against the Luxembourg football dwarf.
Three days after the celebrated success over Germany, Slovakia narrowly averted a setback in the World Cup qualification. In Luxembourg, the team of coach Francesco Calzona only won 1-0 (0-0) in injury time. Tomas Rigo scored the decisive goal in the first minute of the extra time (90.+1).
However, the hosts were the more active team over long distances. Luxembourg had more possession, more degrees and the clearer opportunities. Danel Sinani from Bundesliga club FC St. Pauli hit the post in the 34th minute and failed again after the break on the aluminum (49.). A hit by Tomas de Sousa (58th) was revoked due to video evidence.
For Slovakia, which had previously been surprised by 2-0 against Germany, a bit of a bitter dampers would have been. With the late victory, she now has six points from two games. Luxembourg continues without counters after the 1: 3 against Northern Ireland. The Slovaks lead the group with six points, followed by Northern Ireland and Germany with three points each.
