National coach Hansi Flick has caused quite a few surprised faces with his squad nomination for the international matches against Peru and Belgium (28 March, 8:45 p.m.). Because: The former Bayern head coach called up several new players who had not necessarily been expected in advance.

One of the newcomers is winger Kevin Schade, who is allowed to take the place of Bayern Munich’s Leroy Sané in attack. The 21-year-old from Potsdam switched from SC Freiburg to FC Brentford in the winter. If the purchase obligation takes effect after the current season, Schade will automatically become the most expensive Freiburg departure of all time. The Premier League club has to pay the Bundesliga club 25 million euros.

Schade has only started once in eight appearances in the English top flight. For the former U21 national player, the main thing will now be to give the national coach a business card and to recommend himself for further nominations in training.

Borussia Dortmund’s Marius Wolf meanwhile earned his nomination with remarkably good performances in the current Bundesliga season. After a long struggle, the 27-year-old has now established himself as a right-back at BVB. In the second half of the season, the ex-Frankfurter has only missed one competitive game so far.

For center forward Niclas Füllkrug, the coming international phase is already the second. The Werder Bremen attacker had secured a World Cup ticket with his goals and then both in the friendly against Oman (1-0) and in the finals in the group games against Spain (1-1) and Costa Rica (4-2 ) met. With 15 goals, he is currently the top scorer in the Bundesliga.
