The German national team will have its World Cup dress rehearsal against co-hosts USA. The German Football Association (DFB) announced this on Tuesday evening.
The game will take place on June 6th in Chicago. Kick-off at Soldier Field is at 8:30 p.m. (1:30 p.m. local time). MLS club Chicago Fire plays its home games in the 61,500-seat arena, which is not a World Cup venue.
The team of national coach Julian Nagelsmann is heading to the USA after the international match against Finland in Mainz (May 31st). The day after the duel with the US team, the four-time world champion moves into his base camp for the tournament (June 11th to July 19th). The draw for the XXL World Cup with 48 teams in the USA, Mexico and Canada will take place on Friday in Washington. The DFB will then decide on a quarter.
At the start of the World Cup year, the German team will play two international matches in March: Africa Cup winners Ivory Coast will be visiting Stuttgart on March 30th, and the DFB will announce their second opponent shortly after the draw.
Germany already played against the USA at Nagelsmann’s national coaching debut in October 2023. There was a 3-1 win in East Hartford. It was the eighth success in the twelfth comparison, four games were lost.
