After a serious clash in the Champions League, VfL Wolfsburg has to do without DFB goalkeeper Stina Johannes. How long is still unclear.
Stina Johannes, the VfL Wolfsburg national goalkeeper, suffered a facial fracture in the Champions League game against Real Madrid. Due to this injury, she will not be available for the upcoming Bundesliga game against 1. FC Nürnberg.
The 25-year-old goalkeeper’s injury occurred on Tuesday in Madrid when she collided with opponent Iris Santiago. According to video evidence, the Spanish player was sent off. VfL coach Stephan Lerch explained on Thursday that Johannes “will not be available at the weekend”. “How long it will be canceled is currently unclear and depends on further developments.”
Martina Tufekovic will make her debut for the Wolves in the Bundesliga game in Nuremberg. The 31-year-old moved from TSG Hoffenheim to Wolfsburg in the summer and will now have the chance to prove herself.
