The footballers will also play the final for the DFB Cup in the next five years in Cologne-Müngersdorf. As the German Football Association announced, the final will take place in the Rhine metropolis until 2030. The contract between the association and the city of Cologne was extended accordingly.
The final in Cologne has now become a tradition. On May 1st (4:00 p.m. in the first and on Sportschau.de), the final will take place with the game between FC Bayern Munich and SV Werder Bremen for the 16th time in the stadium in Müngersdorf.
From 1985 to 2009 the women’s final was held before the men’s final in the Berlin Olympic Stadium.
Cologne stadium last sold out twice
The two final games 2023 and 2024 in Cologne were sold out with just over 44,000 spectators. This time, too, the association expects a completely full stadium.
Most recently, record cup winner VfL Wolfsburg won the trophy ten times in a row, but this time the Wolfsburg women failed in the quarter-finals at TSG Hoffenheim.
