Despite Van Quickenborne’s marathon speech: committee approves controversial measure against tax fraud

On Tuesday evening, the House Finance Committee gave the green light to the measure in which computer programs look for suspicious patterns in Belgian bank accounts. MP Vincent Van Quickenborne (Open Vld) “filibustered” for 24 hours last week against that measure, which he calls a “manifest violation of people’s private lives”.
