Despite the hit: Kehl takes Adeyemi to task

After a considerable delay, Karim Adeyemi has finally arrived at Borussia Dortmund in the 2024 calendar year. His goal to make it 1-0 at Union Berlin (final score 2-0) was the first goal of the season for the offensive man, who is usually behind at BVB. After the away win against the Iron Men, the 22-year-old was immediately called into action.

On Saturday after the game, head coach Edin Terzic was initially relieved that his hitherto weak youngster had finally scored his first goal of the season on matchday 24.

“I hope that was a kickstart for him. It was his first goal of the season, hard to imagine if you know his quality,” said the BVB coach about the winger, who has only played four times in the current Bundesliga season, not only due to injury the starting eleven for the black and yellow team.

Sports director Sebastian Kehl then chose clearer words on Sunday: “We see great potential in him,” the BVB manager initially clarified on “Sport1”. But Kehl also made no secret of the fact that those responsible at the club were generally not satisfied with Adeyemi’s development in BVB’s second year.

BVB will be visiting Werder Bremen next Saturday

“Karim can improve and he must improve. He will also have to progress in his personal development,” was the 44-year-old’s clear demand for the four-time Germany international.

In recent months, Adeyemi has not only been set back again and again by injuries. Even in purely sporting terms, the left-footed player’s performance simply didn’t fit. At times he seemed like a foreign body in BVB’s game and has not played the full 90 minutes in a single Bundesliga game this season.

After increasingly loud criticism, the BVB star now wants to provide further sporting arguments. Maybe with the next starting eleven appearance next Saturday (6:30 p.m.) at Werder Bremen?
