The objections committee of the municipality of Emmen has partially upheld the objections of residents of a 23-meter high warehouse in Emmer-Compascuum.
A group of local residents objected to the permit of Fresenius, a company that makes products for medical purposes. Local residents do not like a ‘monstrous’ building of 23 meters high within two hundred meters of their home. This became apparent at the end of May during a hearing of the objections committee.
The objections were declared well-founded on October 3. That does not mean that the warehouse’s permit has been canceled. “The environmental permit will be upheld and further substantiated following the objection procedure. A number of regulations will also be added to the contested environmental permit,” is the conclusion of the objections committee.
In practice, this means, among other things, that the existing green areas must be reinforced and that additional measures must be taken to combat noise pollution.
