Shooting star Luka Vušković has given Hamburger SV fans hope that they will stay. “It’s my dream to play with my brother at HSV. I would give anything for that,” said the 18-year-old defender, who is on loan from English first division club Tottenham Hotspur until the end of the season, to the Abendblatt.

His brother Mario Vušković is banned until November 2026 due to a positive doping test. Luka Vušković said he had not yet specifically spoken to Mario about a joint mission, “because it is still very far away. We will see what the future brings.”

Luka Vušković, who recently caused a stir with a spectacular goal in the northern derby against Werder Bremen (3-2), is returning to London after the current season as per his contract. Tottenham knew about his dream, said Vušković: “But I am their player and am under contract there. In football you never know what will happen in the next few months. We will decide at the appropriate time.”

HSV coach Merlin Polzin relies on atmosphere and statistics against TSG Hoffenheim. With thousands of fans behind them, Hamburger SV wants to end its own away misery on Saturday (3:30 p.m.).

Polzin appears combative before the game against the fifth-place team: He hopes for what feels like a home game, which it certainly will be when he thinks of “our boys and girls” who have provided a lot of loud support in recent years.

According to the club, 12,000 to 15,000 HSV fans are expected in the PreZero Arena, which has a total capacity of around 30,000 people. The Nordtribüne support group had previously called for people to stock up on tickets around the guest block under the motto “Everyone to Sinsheim”.

Polzin explained that the clear mandate was to go away not only to visit the stadiums, but also to be successful. The team recently won twice at home in a row, including the derby against Werder Bremen 3-2. They are currently in sixth place in the home table – but in last place away.
