In the last two seasons, Serhou Guirassy shone with 60 goals in 96 competitive games for Borussia Dortmund. Now the 30-year-old attacker has spoken about what gives him a special kick in the BVB ranks. Words that don’t necessarily mean that the rumors circulating about an impending farewell are true.
Serhou Guirassy took his first steps in German football in the ranks of 1. FC Köln in 2016/17. After the big success failed to materialize, the striker returned to France. before he started in the German football upper house from summer 2022. From 2022 to 2024 for VfB Stuttgart and from 2024 to 2026 for BVB, the Guinean always scored double figures in the league.
Guirassy has now revealed that every station has shaped him.
“There were 50,000 fans at every game in Cologne, which was unbelievable. Stuttgart was also strong. And Dortmund has one of the best audiences in the world. You have to realize how lucky it is to have played for such clubs. Later I can say: I played in SIGNAL IDUNA PARK, in the MHP Arena or in the RheinEnergie-STADION. These are stadiums that everyone knows. That of course makes me proud,” said Guirassy in an interview with the DFL magazine “Bundesliga”.
Rumors about saying goodbye to BVB
In any case, the atmosphere in the German football stadiums is “really impressive” and clearly tops the atmosphere in his native France. There Guirassy played for OSC Lille, AJ Auxerre, Stade Laval, Amiens and Stade Rennes.
But one club also stands out in Germany: Guirassy’s current employer BVB. “Scoring in front of the south stand, the ‘Yellow Wall’, is always something very emotional as a BVB player. Scoring goals here gives you a real adrenaline rush,” enthuses Guirassy. To understand that, you have to play for the Black and Yellows.
Whether there will be more goals in front of the “Yellow Wall” is said to be up in the air. Recently there have been increasing rumors that Guirassy is planning to leave. There are said to be plenty of interested parties in England, Italy, Spain and Turkey. However, the BVB management emphasized that they want to keep the 30-year-old, whose contract ends in 2028.
